Madagascar
Because of its fascinating evolutionary history, Madagascar is the most
unique of the island options. The fourth largest island in the world, it
broke away from the continental landmass over 100 million years ago, and
this has resulted in a profusion of endemic animal and plant life.
It also has an incredible diversity of terrain, which includes a vast
mountain plateau, dry desert scapes, dense rainforests and endless tropical
beaches. While its is best known for the numerous species of lemur and the
variety of reptiles, it has a growing reputation as a fantastic diving and
water sport destination.
